Needless to say, I was devastated when I heard of what happened to Karen's dogs. I have purchased 2 Chows from Karen, one for my wife and I and later, one for my Daughter. Karen's devotion and love towards her dogs was very evident. 10 years ago I purchased Max from Karen. He was a red male. His tail didn't turn so he had a pom pom for a tail but he was a great pet. We feed him 98% fat free chicken, basmati rice and only spring water. Today I had to make the hardest decision of my life, Max had a tumor on his heart and cancer in his stomach, I put him to sleep today....we had the best 10 years of our life with Max and it was because of you Karen! My heart goes out to you. Thank you for all the joy your dogs have given us. One day we will all meet our loved ones "over the rainbow bridge".

Karen,
Congrats on your recent back-to-back BIS wins!! How wonderful and rewarding to have your first BIS- your love and dedication to your Chows is so evident in all you do for them. You are so fortunate to have a wonderful veterinarian and friend in Dr. Karin and her staff; that means so much when we must turn to them for help and advise. I keep watching Cyrus' progress every few weeks as you post the latest photos...he is certainly a stoic Chow! Please keep the pics coming and updates on how you are doing.

I agree with all of you. To have a vet that you feel comfortable with is one thing. But when this happened, I had no idea what to do or anything. I was devastated and in shock. All I knew was that I had to call at Dr. Karin's clinic cause that is the only place I would have wanted my dogs to be.
She did an outstanding job and she truly deserves the Veterinarian of the Year Award. I am so proud of her and her staff not only for what they did for the "burn dogs" but for what she has done for many of my dogs over the years. I have total confidence in her and I hope she goes on in her profession for many many years to come. Anything new that comes around for dogs, and she is there to learn all about it. I wish everyone would be blessed enough to have a vet like Dr. Karin.
Thank you for your comments about Dr. Karin and for the back to back BIS wins as well. I have been in chows for over 12 years and this is my very first BIS and then to get back to back wins was just spectacular. And yes, my head is very very swollen right now and will be for many days. haha

The whole world needs to know about this special Vet, Dr. Karin, and how dedicated she is beyond just taking good medical care of animals. She treats the whole animal, and also the loving person of that animal! What if Karen hadnt had this wonderful clinic to help her? i cannot imagine, but im thrilled beyond words that this Veterinarian (and this must include her staff also) received this most prestigious award. after all this tragedy its so good to hear some positive news and some rebuilding of hope and I, among many, look forward to this very important chow kennel to flourish again!! congratulations to all involved and to Karens Maddox for his big big wins. He seemed to know his "mom" needed a big "lift"! and to his handler who obviously loves him too!!!! Tonight I am smiling and thats "a good thing"!!!!! keep on, Karen, and dr Karin. The world is a better place because of you! Love, kathleen zins
