I just wanted to let everyone know that Journey is back home. She was with a neighbor and she finally got to come back home. I still have one more dog that is being kept by a friend and that is Sprocket. Hopefully, I will be able to bring him back soon and then the dogs that survived the fire will finally all be back home. It is very crowded in my house. I live in a double wide and there is only so much room in here. Some of the dogs are blowing their coat now so there is fur all over every day that has to be vacuumed up. It is starting to look like I have mohair carpeting.
I had a setback with Cyrus with his feet but he seems better now. He goes back to the vet on Monday for a recheck and hopefully the bandages came come off of his feet again. Happy Fourth of July to all.

Mr. Weinhold,
Thank you for posting your comment. I am only doing for my dogs what anyone would do that loves them with all their heart. And to see the improvement in Cyrus and Iris the Old Bat (that is the name the vet techs have "lovingly" given her), is just amazing. Cyrus had such severe burns on his face and a good part of his body and all four pads of his feet were burned off. Now he has pads on his feet and he looks so much better. It is going to be a long haul but we can do it.
As for chiropractic, my vet does that too. Actually, Dawson walked around with his head way down after the explosion. She xrayed to see if his neck was broken, but it was not. He did have burns on his neck but he was in the first run nearest the explosion and I am thinking it may have blew him against the wall with great force. So, she used chiropractic adjustments on him to get him better too. Thank you for the offer though and I will tell my vet about using the laser on Yucky's throat. I may be wrong but I think that my dogs were the first dogs that my vet used the laser on for burn therapy.

Hi, Karen:
What a mammoth job you are undertaking! My wife and I have been following your efforts to help your dogs recover since the beginning. We have had chows for over 25 years and have two currently. The cold laser for burns is a great idea. When I saw that Yucky has throat/esophageal burns, I thought I would highly recommend that you use cold laser on that area as well if you're not already doing it. A strong laser can easily penetrate his entire throat. The laser technician needs to be careful to angle it between or beside his thyroid, but it can be done to minimize the scarring and length of recovery. While I have used cold laser on human's throats, that is one area I have not worked specifically on my dogs with it. By the way, if you or any of your dog's need chiropractic treatment, we would be happy to make the trip there to help.
Best wishes from Sandra and I.

Well, it is Friday. You know what that means. The tub arrived today. It just got here.
It is still in the box. The sad thing is that it is pouring here so I can't take it outside to put it together and my house is wall to wall chows so there is no room in here either. All I can do today is open the box and look inside. But, tomorrow it is supposed to be sunny. Look out you dirty dogs, bath day is approaching....................Again, THANK YOU to everyone that was involved in getting me this tub. My chows might not like it now, but they will thank you too once they have had a good bath cause I know they will feel so much better.

Karen, You are one of the kindest, most generous people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and I am thrilled to have been able to be a part of getting you something that will help you and your chows feel so much better. You deserve all the help you've received and then some!!! From the time I first met you I've been amazed at how you have been able to accomplish all the things that you have done and I don't know anyone who can stretch a dollar farther than you so please, don't feel sad or embarrassed at allowing us (all involved) to help. Speaking for myself, I've looked and looked for some way to help and this was the golden opportunity!!! What a wonderful group of friends you have - you are truly blessed in friendship!!! You deserve every ounce of that and more for the manner in which you have handled this disaster and the love and effort you have put into each of the dogs, not just your chows, that were injured in the accident.

I am so glad the tub, et al, will arrive on Friday - that is fast shipping on something that big!!!! NOW - do you have someone you can call to help you put that baby together?

God bless you for being who you are!!!!

Well, I do thank everyone for everything they are doing for me. You are good people.
I just did a tracking on the tub. It is supposed to arrive on Friday. That is fast. Now the big decision is who gets a bath first. I would love to give Cyrus one but he has bandages on all four feet again and I can't get his feet wet for the time being. So, when I have the tub set up I will see which dog goes up the ramp first, and that will be my first victim.
